All About Cherry Capri
Autobiography
Chapter 1) Sit Right Back and You'll Hear a Tale...
Hello, it’s me. I’m Cherry Capri. And this is the story of my life. I don’t have many recollections of my first year.
All I know is that I am really afraid of deep water and big waves.
My biological mother and father are pretty well known by now. My father is Professor Roy Hinkley Jr. Phd
and mother is Ginger Grant. After spending so many years marooned on a desert isle, something was bound to happen
and I am the living proof.
People have told me about how bright and talented both of my parents were and I guess I am pretty lucky to have
inherited their unique set of genes. And I am told that the mole on my left cheek is just like my mothers.
After pondering how to raise a child on such an isolated island and an illegitimate one at that, they came
to a decision. They wrapped me up in a pair of Mary Ann’s pink colored polyester capri pants and set me out
like Moses on the ocean in a little bamboo basket on a raft of coconuts with an SOS note and instructions
on how to rescue them.
When I think about it now, that was pretty irresponsible, but who knows what you would do if you were shipwrecked
on a desert isle for so many years? So I have come to terms with that and let them off the hook. And besides it all has a happy ending.
Dolphins guided the raft across the Pacific to land safely on the west coast of America.
The basket washed ashore on the beach of Zuma where I was picked up by crew members of the latest A.I.P. beach picture.
Most of the SOS note had long since faded in the sun, but some things were still legible, my birthday of February 2 1969 (but don’t you tell anyone that), my parentage and first name Cherry.
Freddie and Babette (dad and mom) were on the set doing principle shots of Bouffant Beach Party.
They were the stunt doubles for Frankie and Annette and had been shacking up in a surfers’ commune.
When Babs saw what the sea had washed in, she was so enamored of the little pink package that arrived she was determined
to adopt me then and there. I became the reason that mom and dad got inspired to get married and dad proposed to mom that very night.
As evening approached, the set broke and the fun times began. A bonfire was raised and the tunes were cranked
for another beach bash bonanza. Dad made a makeshift ring from a pull tab from a can of Tab and proposed to mom on the beach and they performed a ceremony on the moonlit shores of Pacific with the great Kahuna presiding. They made it official the next day at the Santa Monica Courthouse: Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Capri.
