Back in olden times, people would take their Super 8 cameras along with them on vacation. Because of the nature of the medium, the clips that were shot were usually rather short in nature. The film was precious and the processing was expensive, so quick little clips were strung together to create moving picture montages of memories.
A few years back, I drove across country and shot short little snippets in beside my favorite landmarks. I posted several of them back in 2013. I also also hired talented stop motion artists to create stop frame animation titles for them! There are pistachios spell out, “Cherry goes Nuts!” Little pebbles spelling, “Presenting Ms. President.” Pink eraser shavings that say, “Big Mistake in D.C.” There are also green peas, candy sprinkles, metal shavings, legos, grass clippings, plastic spoons, lava rocks, and more… And of course a little of the classic Art Clokey Gumby style Claymation. You will just have to watch them to see all the fun!
Just last week, like finding a treasure trove of Super 8 canisters at an estate sale, I just unearthed a bunch more clips!!! I will be adding them all this week to my existing playlist on YouTube. Some are educational, others are just plain silly for silliness sake. I do hope that you will enjoy them and that they will encourage you to go out and create a Road Trip Video Adventure of your own!
And remember to keep your clips quick and to the point so that your viewers will have more time to see more of them.
