New book coming soon! “Two Toys…”

June 3, 2020 by ~ C. Capri

One Toy, Two Toys Too Many… Shoo Toys! A Rhyming Tale of Two Toys Too Many. Coming soon… Out in time for winter holiday shopping?!?!

In an age of consumerism, this book tells the tale of a friendly family of blue avian alien birds that ends up learning there are other things that are much more important than ‘things.’

As Miss Capri says at the end: “It’s easy to want to have all of the gizmos in the galaxy … Especially when there are so many clever things to play with. But please remember that shiny bright objects often fill a void in our lives that otherwise might be filled with good old fashioned LOVE!”

The book reminds one of a classic cautionary Dr. Seuss tale combined with Shel Silverstein’s Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout, (who would not take the garbage out). The illustrator, Sneha Paradeshi, captures a fanciful cast of characters that include really cute reptilians, playful praying mantis, alongside greys and greens with antennas. The blue avian’s favorite toys are of course, a spaceship and a human baby doll! Perfect for someone who loves stories about outer space, UFOs, and Area 51. Guaranteed to make you smile every night you read it. Nanoo Nanoo

CA Modern Cherry on Top!

December 7, 2018 by ~ C. Capri

Today I am ever so grateful for my MidMod friends in Northern California. I just received a 5 star review from CA Modern Magazine. They just posted a terrific article about my recently published full color children’s books.

CA-Modern’s Cherry Capri pens three lively paperbacks—just in time for the holidays
“I was just getting really tired of people’s negativity,” she said of the catalyst to her publishing burst. “There’s so much discord in the world, people forget how beautiful life can be.”
That is the unfailingly upbeat rhythm behind Why Am I?, a delightful philosophical jaunt for young existentialists.

A Pocketful of Prose for Every Passing Season

November 30, 2018 by ~ C. Capri

I am happy to share that I have released a wonderful book of children’s poetry just in time for the holidays. If you are looking for a unique book for a child that you cherish, please consider reading The Wheel of the Year to them.

The Golden book style illustrations are a pure joy to view by the talented illustrator, Sneha Paradeshi. I introduced her to the work Mid Century Modern illustrators, Alice and Martin Provensen, and boy oh boy, did she she get inspiration. I also think she may have channeled the work of Mary Blair while she was drawing.

In this collection of thirty four poems, I recall the simple pleasures of children as the year unfolds, from seeing flowers burst out in Spring, to imagining magical lands in Autumn. While some of the poems are pure fun, many of the poems also encourage traditional values of love and respect.
And nothing says the holidays like happy little monkeys trimming palm trees over a thatched little grass shack tiki hut!

Happy Seasons!
