FB_IMG_1446864523431Come and see what all the fuss is about tomorrow night. November 7 at 7pm til late… the ALL NEW SHAG STORE!

8443 Melrose Ave

This just in from Tiki Ray…
“I went to the soft opening and parking was extremely hard. They are building a parking structure soon but it’s not done yet so expect to hunt for a spot and walk a couple blocks.”
Thank you for that excellent tip!!! Good to know.

Cherry says, “Be there in your best lounge wear!”  I’ll be wearing a PINK polyester pantsuit originally worn by Aunt Silvia… the lady who first bleached Marilyn Monroe’s hair blond! What are you wearing?

Cheers to your Health! Eat Like Eve

October 19, 2015 by ~ C. Capri

Gentle Readers,EatLikeEve-Cover

I am so thrilled to announce that I have finally come out with my own recipe book. It is written from my heart to yours, hopefully to make your heart, and the rest of you, healthier!

WE LAUNCH on November 11, but you can pre-order your copy anytime now…

http://www.amazon.com/Eat-Like-Eve-Cherry-Capri/dp/0996583505/

This book took me literally years to write. I and my co-author chefs made and perfected each and every one of these recipes and took the pictures along the way – as we made them. They are NOT highly-stylized fancy-pants photos that make the food seem impossible to make. They are down-to-earth cel phone pictures that let you know YOU TOO can make these simple recipes with just a very little bit of time and effort. If you can learn to make just one of the items in this book (I suggest Raw Marinara and/or my famous RAWket Chocolate) I will know I have done a good thing. And you will have done a good thing, too!

I especially want to encourage you to let anyone who has sight issues to know that I have created an audible book version of Eat Like Eve that will be available around the same date. I narrated it along with Chef Mason Green. People with visual difficulties often have little access to healthy recipes. I know, because I personally have family members who deal with this handicap. And I have made it with lots of fun in mind, so even if they cannot see the little illustrations in the book – they will have little places to smile along the way.

Cheers to your health!

~CC

Save LACMA!

July 21, 2015 by ~ C. Capri

1965 Los Angeles County Museum of Art by William Pereira

SAVE THE 1965 Los Angeles County Museum of Art by William Pereira

One of my most beloved piece of architecture is seriously threatened:

The original Los Angeles County Museum of Art buildings on Wilshire Blvd between Fairfax and La Brea. These buildings were built and funded by the city’s fathers (and mothers) to become a legacy for generations and generations to come. It is a slap in the face to those original benefactors and donors to even consider demolishing these stellar buildings! New Yorkers would NOT tear down their beloved Lincoln Center or Metropolitan Museum of Art? Thus, my friend, Steven Price, has started an online petition to express the concerns of citizens and also a Facebook page. I invite you to please sign and join. Below are some of his comments paraphrased a bit…

SAVE THE 1965 Los Angeles County Museum of Art by William Pereira SAVE HISTORIC, ORIGINAL LACMA! Let the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors know that you support the modern ideals of preservation, fiscal responsibility and sensitive retrofitting to maintain a green structure into the future.

  1. Legacy: William Pereira was an LA-based architect, responsible for over 250 forward thinking buildings and master plans that created the vision of LA as the city of the future! His 1965 building  complex was pivotal in making L.A. a World Class City!
  2. Sustainablility. Keep buildings intact and out of landfill. Around the world, centuries old buildings – have been sensitively retrofitted to accommodate new environmental standards.
  3. Fiscal responsibility. Donor money should go toward art acquisition and member events.
  4. Our children, the donors of the future. This is our opportunity to tell them: “We valued your heritage and we preserved it for you.”

SAVE the 1965 Pereira buildings & RESTORE the campus to its original grandeur! JOIN THIS GROUP AND PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD
